(PARIS, FRANCE – Sunday, April 6, 2014) President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has arrived in Paris, France on the last leg of her official visit to Europe.
Over the last week, President Sirleaf has made official visits to Brussels, Belgium where she participated in the 4th EU-Africa Summit and Rome, Italy, where she addressed a Special Event on the Post-2015 Development Agenda organized by the Rome-Based Agencies (Food and Agriculture Organization, International Fund for Agricultural Development, and the World Food Programme). During the visits, the Liberian leader also held bilateral meetings.
According to a Dispatch from Paris, France, President Sirleaf arrived there Sunday afternoon from Rome, Italy where she had a very successful visit. She was met on arrival by Liberia’s Ambassador to France, His Excellency C. William Allen and staff of the Liberian Embassy.
During the visit to Paris, President Sirleaf will attend the opening of the Global Water Summit and serve as Guest of Honor at the Global Water Awards ceremony later in the evening. She is currently serving a second two-year term as Africa’s Goodwill Ambassador for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).
Each year, the coveted Global Water Awards acknowledge the most important achievements in the international water industry, voted for by readers of Global Water Intelligence magazine and the Water Desalination Report (WDR), and members of the International Desalination Association (IDA) and the International Private Water Association (IPWA).
President Sirleaf will deliver the Keynote Address at the gala event and later present the Global Water Awards trophies to the winners and runners-up. The program takes place at the Pavilion d’Armenonville in the Bois de Boulogne.
The Liberian leader and delegation returns home on Tuesday, April 8.
