Hundreds of Police Officers Disrobed, Suspended
Three hundred and four officers have been suspended and disrobed by authorities of the Liberia National Police for Absence Without Official Leave (AWOL).
The suspension range from two weeks to one month and the affected officers will suffer salaries cuts, Police Spokesman George Bardu said.
The suspended officers are from various departments of the Police, including Patrol Section, Police Support Unit, Emergency Respond Unit and the Crime Services Department.Other units affected by the suspension are Planning and Research Department, Motor Pool and the National Police Training Academy.
Meanwhile, the Nimba County Police Detachment has charged a 22-year old man identified as Emmanuel Cooper Vaye with murder.
According to the report, suspect Vaye is accused of using a cutlass to stab his victim identified as Abraham Sidiki Trawalay , 22, on the head in Bahn, Nimba County on May 12, 2012.
During police preliminary investigation, suspect Vaye alleged that the incident occurred when he was insulted by the victim while walking with his girl friend through the streets of Bahn Town.
In another development, the Police Highway Patrol Unit (PHPU) of the Liberian National Police (LNP) has arrested two persons for being in possession of a huge quantity of marijuana.
The two suspects: Catherine David, 36; and Sekou Toure are presently detained at LNP headquarters awaiting investigations by the anti-narcotics Unit of the Police.
The report said the suspects were arrested early Wednesday morning at Fendell while transporting the dangerous substance in a vehicle with plate number TB-1364 travelling from Nimba County to Monrovia.blog comments powered by Disqus
