Civil Servants To Get Salary Increase?
The Liberian leader, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has informed the national Legislature that the Budget provides an increment in the salaries of civil servants.
President Sirleaf stated, in a letter dated June 1, 2012 to the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives that the budget, which was submitted by the Executive, spelled out that the salaries of the civil servants have been categorized in a grading system.
“This relates to the salaries of the civil servants which under a grading system range from US$100 to US$170 (in Liberian dollar equivalent) and in terms of allowances, from US$45 to US$1,350; other officials including ministers range from US$130 to US$320 (in Liberian dollar equivalent) and in terms of allowances from US$400 to US$3, 000,” the letter under the signature of President Ellen Johnson said.
The President also disclosed that the salaries for top management of public corporations which range from US$2,000 to US$15,000 will be reviewed..
The President indicated that the new policies will revise the structure of public corporation compensation to take into account the nature of operation, strategic services, and profitability, amongst others.
