Finance Dismisses Fire Speculation

The Ministry of Finance has dismissed speculation that a portion of its Broad Street headquarters was ablaze on Tuesday.

Reporters rushed to the Ministry upon being receiving information that it was being gutted.

But a Ministry of Finance late evening press release dismissed the speculation, adding that though there was smoke but there was not a blaze. 

The release said smoke on the third floor of the Ministry was caused by a short circuit.

There was no damage done to the building or document, the release signed by Director of Communications, Sidiki Trawally read.

The release said officers of the Liberia National Police, the Liberia Electricity Corporation and the Liberia National Fire Service are investigating the cause of the short circuit.

At the same time, the Ministry is calling on tax payers and other customers to commence routine transaction as everything has been placed under control.
