Diplomatic Anger: GOL to Sue “Fraudulent” Dane

The Government of Liberia says it is considering dragging to court the Danish journalist, turned-filmmaker Mads Johan Brügger Cortzen for illegal possession of a Liberian passport.

Cortzen recently attended a film festival in Central African Republic, presenting himself as a Liberian Ambassador in possession of a Liberia passport.

He has admitted purchasing the passport but has not disclosed the name of the person from whom he purchased it.

An upset Minister of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Lewis Brown told a weekly press briefing Thursday that government will not allow this incident to pass without investigation.

Minister Brown, in fact, called on all Liberians everywhere in the world to get “angry” at the Danish filmmaker for his act of fraud.

“I don’t know what it will take for us Liberians to get angry. As for me, I am already angry and I want every Liberian anywhere to get angry.”

He appeared more angry by the Dane’s defense that he wanted to exposed how corrupt was the Liberian diplomatic corridors.

“Mr. Cortzen exposed the corruption that he was a part of,” he told the briefing at the Ministry’s Capitol Hill headquarters.

“We will not allow this to die. We will go after Mr. Cortzen and get to know the person from whom he purchased that passport,” he added.
