The Beauty of our democratic system enables the free, fair, open and rank exchange of ideas that either favor or go against the government of the day. Lest we forget that the government duly elected by the people through a democratic process owes it to all and sundry in order to safeguard the public trust, we are doomed.
The significance of democracy, said the Liberian Leader, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, is about competing on the basis of utilizing ideas to improve the lives of people, the people politicians want to lead.
A famous Methodist Hymn begins and ends with these lines:
“Dear Lord and Father of Mankind
Forgive us our Foolish Ways
Reclothe us in our rightful mind
In purer lives thy service Find
In Deeper Reverence Praise."
