Issues for the UN Panel Meeting

The UN High Panel meeting in Monrovia enters a crucial session today with most of the eminent persons commissioned by the UN Secretary-General, Ban-Ki Moon, in July last year attending.

The panelists were charged with the onerous responsibility of  laying a road map for the post-Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which the framers had envisaged would salvage the world from recurrent and palpable challenges such as debilitating diseases and maternal-infant mortality; inadequate housing, water and sanitation; demeaning poverty and retarding economic growth occasioned by shrinking cooperation between developing and developed countries.

Lead, Follow Or Get Away' Is A Wakeup Call For The Entire Nation

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf returned to the country with renewed energy and vigor to rally the entire nation to wake up and hold together in the unflinching strive to move Liberia forward.

Making fiery remarks at an intercessory prayer service held in commemoration of her safe arrival, the Liberian leader unequivocally intimated that Liberia was lagging behind in its economic drive while neighboring Sierra Leone is pacing far ahead with a record growth rate of 25%, something she squarely attributed to hard work, determination and focus of the party of the sierra Leonean people while disunity is prevailing amongst Liberians.

“We are tearing one another apart instead of holding together and joining ranks to rebuild our country”, the President pointed out in a very serious tone.
