The death of Catholic Archbishop Michael Francis has indeed created a vacuum for human rights and freedom advocacy in Liberia. The home-going of Archbishop Francis, the first Liberian Catholic Archbishop in Liberia, bears similarities to that of Saints Peter and Paul and many others who carried the cross of Christ as ministers of the gospel.

Attack on Press Freedom Condemned

The Government of Liberia, through the Minister of Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism Hon. Lewis G. Brown last Thursday in a carefully worded statement strongly condemned remarks made by the Director of the executive Protection Service (EPS) Mr. Daniel Othello Warrick, terming it a serious threat to press freedom in Liberia.

What is no linger a secret is that a group of Civil Society Organizations in Liberia and abroad are planning to organize a mammoth anti-government street demonstrations on April 12, 2013 to advocate for social justice and human rights in Liberia. In this regard, instead of applying to the Ministry of Justice for permit to stage street demonstrations, these groups are mobilizing youth and student groups in the country to turn out in full to make the anti-government protest a resounding success.
